His high school was marked for years by the unresolved impact of a classmate’s death after she was found on a shoreline, wrapped in plastic, an event that left a lasting imprint on the town. At 16, Borgli worked for several years at the town’s video store, an experience that shaped his interest in cinema and set him on a path toward filmmaking.
